SUBMIT YOUR CITY. Tell us where you want to gather. We'll add it to the list so others nearby can find you.
PICK YOUR SPOT. Choose an accessible public location where people can gather peacefully. Check the local rules before announcing the location.
SET THE TIME. Use the campaign's date/time, or coordinate locally if you're offering flexibility.
SPREAD THE WORD. Use the design/graphics, language, and event information provided by NOT IN OUR NAME USA (or create your own!). Share them with friends, local groups, community pages, and anyone who might want to join.
FIND YOUR FIRST FEW PEOPLE. Don't wait for a "crowd." Get a handful of people committed. They invite people, those people invite people, and suddenly you have something.
SHOW UP PREPARED. Arrive early. Bring a sign, water, charged phone, and whatever you need for the weather. Keep it peaceful and look out for one another.
HOW TO PROTEST PEACEFULLY
With or without a permit
KNOW WHERE YOU'RE STANDING. Public sidewalks ≠ privately owned plazas, parking lots, malls, etc.
STAY ON THE SIDEWALK & SKIP THE STREET CLOSURE. Don't block pedestrians, entrances, driveways, or traffic. Taking over streets/traffic is one of the things that can trigger permit requirements.
KEEP MOVING IF NEEDED. Follow pedestrian signals and lawful restrictions on use of the space.
CHECK SOUND RULES. Amplified sound may require a permit even when the gathering itself doesn't.
KEEP IT PEACEFUL. Don't threaten, damage property, or physically interfere with others.
KNOW YOUR RIGHTS & CHECK YOUR CITY. Peaceful assembly and expression are First Amendment-protected, but local rules still apply. Ordinances vary, so link people to the local rules and a proper "Know Your Rights" resource, such as the ACLU.
